Réalt Dearg 'A' 4-13 v 0-9 Naomh Olaf The A team continued their winning ways with an impressive win over Naomh Olaf to further the push for more league honours this year. The Stars got off a blistering start with Frank Farrell goaling from a close range free in the opening minutes. Frank followed up with 2 points putting Réalt Dearg into a commanding lead which was never relinquished throughout the game. Martin Murphy, Podge Buckley and Paul Warren added to three further points from Frank to extend the lead before excellent buildup play involving the two former Newmarket men, Cian Liddy and Martin Murphy, resulted in Murphy firing a bullet to the net. Kevin Ryan rounded off the first half scoring with a well taken point to give the Stars an 8 point cushion at the break. Key to the first half performance was serious workrate and teamwork with many scores created from turnovers and cleverly developed plays. However, there was some concern at the interval that the home side were beginning to play their way back into the game by tacking on a few scores just before the break. Those concerns were dispelled in a second half where the mean Réalt Dearg defence limited Olafs to just two further points. Points from Frank, Paul and Colm Gahan, who had been re-located to leading the attack for this game, together with two excellently taken goals from Cian Liddy ensured that the points would be heading back to D6W. The second half also saw A team debuts for Kevin Cormican and Conor Maheraj whose impressive performances will be sure to have every player on their toes in advance of the championship quarter final in three weeks. Réalt Dearg: Gary Thompson, Ultan Dillon, Trevor Jackman (capt), Mike Richardson, Cathal Hester, John Barry, Brian Gavin, Paul Warren, Niall Mullane, Padraig Buckley, Colm Gahan, Martin Murphy, Kevin Ryan, Frank Farrell, Cian Liddy. Subs: Conor Maheraj, Kevin Cormican, James Kenny, Stephen Casey, Declan Ryan
